Kid-proofing with astroturf

One of the kids' favourite areas of my youngest daughter's school has been nothing but a mud and dirt hill for a year. This is partly through weather and excessive use. It had a wooden decking area and several smaller wooded platforms which could be used for anything. It was a great area for the kids to relax at break times.

It's now undergoing a bit of a drastic makeover. The deck area is now a pergola, and there are holes there ready for something else to be added (beneath the red marker bags). They've topped it all with some hard-wearing snazzy astroturf. It should take them longer to wear out the grass!

Plenty of real grass on the school field.
