Take your son to work day(s).

I've had Ali at work with me for the past 2 1/2 days. This is because an hour before school was due to start on Wednesday I received text saying he had no school until Monday as his teacher's mother was sick! This is a typical occurance here in Turkey. Thankfully my workplaces are happy for me to bring my kids if need be. He was quite happy playing with the little ones.

In the afternoon he came to my group of 5 home-educated kids. Home educated but by teachers! We were learning about the history of the English and American Mother's Day. We learnt that writing a letter to your mother was a typical thing to do, so, that we did. Whilst they were finishing off their pictures I rewrote the lyrics to "Mamma Mia" to make a song about mums which we then rehearsed with a youtube backing track and performed at the end of the lesson to one set of parents. It was very sweet. You can't beat a good old sing song!

in other news, a large owl was spotted in a large palm tree in our school's garden. I tried to photograph it but the owl was indistinguishable!
