Newhaven....
...lovely day, but a bit chilly aroond the willy.
In 1931, my great grandfather returned to his home village of Newhaven (now part of Edinburgh) from Belgium, having lived near Manage with his Belgian wife since the end of the WW1 in 1918. The terrible economic recession of the 30's hitting Belgium's industrial south particularly hard.
The notoriously insular Bowtows welcomed home their long lost son, but regrettably referred to his young Walloonian wife as, "Thon Frenchy Wiman".....charming!!
