Tarradellas

Detail of a monument dedicated to the first President of the Catalan government after democracy was restored following the Franco regime. It's situated in Avenida Josep Tarradellas, which is named in his honour. There's something about the rough and smooth, coupled with the strength throughout the piece which has grown on me over the years. The whole thing's about 40 metres high; it's basically an obelisk, alternating marble with rough hewn stone.
