useful but gorgeous

This is a wonderful pincushion that I got from my lovely eldest daughter. It is filled with sand so when you push in the pins it keeps the tips very very sharp.. well today one shawl was finished blocking so all the pins got back into the cushion... then another was stretched and blocked so most went back into the boards keeping the shawl in its correct shape while it dries... The pins are part of the magic... shawls look good when knitted but once they have been blocked they are transformed... And this cushion is part of the magic..
