Cruising down the river

The River Nene has some wonderful walks around it as it flows through Ferry Meadows in Peterborough and this is one of the best times to do one. I did it today with my friend who is a birdwatcher and the highlight was seeing a pair of greenshanks wading in the shallow water. This narrowboat came along just as we were crossing over a bridge and as I expected, it made the best pic of a pretty near perfect day.

For the record: 17C and a few minutes of rain, the most we've had for about six weeks. Our gardens are really dry.
