San Gimingnano

About to head off to the airport to come home and so I thought I would share a picture of yesterday. This is the Tuscan hill town of San Gimingnano which is famous for its many towers. Back in the day the Italians equated the number of towers a town had with its wealth and power. Not many towns have kept them but San Gimignano is famed for being a town with many still standing.

A nice little town with winding streets and panoramic views of Tuscany. There were maybe 4 or 5 torture museums with some eye watering devises which makes me think that this town has had a violent past! Very different to its gentile and relaxed feel today.
