Party At Ground Zero #2

I haven't read what he's written yet as I didn't want it to influence what I write now! So apologies if I repeat anything!!

Last night I went to see Fishbone. I remember buying their first EP when it was released 25 years ago and was completely blown away by it. It was the most exciting music I had ever heard. I continued to buy their albums throughout my youth. Despite the many thousands of hours I have probably spent listening to a massively diverse range of music throughout my life I have probably spent more time listening to Fishbone than any other band! I don't really know why I've never got to see them live before but 25 years after buying that EP when I discovered they were playing a venue less than an hour from my home I just had to be there! And so glad I was too!!

Again I have seen literally hundreds of bands live, but this concert last night has to be up there at the top of the list. It was an absolutely incredible show. The musicianship was sublime and the spectacle of the show was just something else.... but the energy that this band emit.... well words just can't convey it!! At the end of the 1 hour and 40 minute set, that didn't let up for a split second; my head was left spinning by what I'd witnessed. I felt like I'd been hit by a ten tonne truck!!

Thank you Fishbone for an experience that will live with me for the rest of my life!

Footnote - I suspect a few people are reading this that music just isn't their thing and may think that my ramblings are a bit over the top (not that I care!). I would just like to say that I have been passionate about music from a very young age. I can't imagine life without music. I can get a massive buzz from listening to GOOD music, especially live music. Throughout my life I've had different interests and hobbies that have come and gone but music has always been there. It's a vital part of life. I wouldn't be me without it!

I might have "gone off on one a bit here" but I'm hoping this is all in the spirit of Musical Month of May!! :)
