Supermarket Shelf to Pond Algae Killer...
Our pond is prone to Algae blooms as it gets quite warm and sunny over much of the pond in the summer. This year, to combat the green scourge, we decided to follow a tip we found on the internet to banish the green menace. The suggestion was to add some Watercress to the pond which should, in theory, soak up the nutrients that the Algae goes for. Anyway, with a lot of faith and hope, we went on a mission and bought some bagged Watercress from the local supermarket as well as a couple of seed packets from the local garden centre and liberally covered the pond edges with seed and filled the shallow part with the bagged Watercress.
Now, four weeks later, the bagged Watercress, after a couple of weeks of very promising growth, has now managed to flower which for us is an added bonus and here is the result.
