SON OF A DITCH

Photo of "The ditch", which is a hole filled with gravel for the horses to jump over/ fall into/ rear up in sheer terror/go round.

Fact of the day - An adult horse's brain weighs 400-700g, accounting for 0.1 per cent of body weight. This compares with 2 per cent for humans.

No doubt quite a few riders will find themselves thrown over or in the ditch before their horses get the hang of it.
