Breakfast with the Grackles
I mentioned when I posted a picture of a male grackle a couple of days ago, that while he stands displaying his smart attire, the females are out doing the food shopping; what's new. Here are two lady grackles, busy looking for bugs, by lifting the leaves and looking under them. The otehr thing they do, which I am unlikely to capture, is to poke their beaks into a lily bud, and then prise it apart by opening their beaks wide, and then grabbing any unsuspecting bug lurking there. Not a picture of great grace and beauty, but quite interesting, I think. These birds are beautiful, but not nearly as smart!
