This is a screen shot of my twitter searches this evening.
The reason is that we have had a National Election today and because the polls close some 3+ hours in the east of the country, there is a news black-out in British Columbia (our westernmost province) so that the results from the east do not influence the voting in the west.
Today Twitterers challenged this law. I took me 10 minutes to find the search where the results were being posted.
The election resulted in a majority government (read Benevolent Dictatorship) with a surprising rise of the left as the official opposition. One interesting result is that the leader of the Green Party defeated the incumbent Conservative minister of sport. This is an amazing achievement in our antiquated "First Past the Post" electoral system.
