Marion Sue Fischer

Marion is a poet, political activist, and good friend originally from the Bronx, now living in the building in Portland where I live. Here's a poem she calls "Introduction," which is the first part of a seven-part poem called "My Blood."

My name is Marion Sue Fischer
and I am not ashamed.

I was born a Jew
and I am not ashamed.

I have been "Homeless"
and I am not ashamed.

I am diagnosed schizophrenic
and I am not ashamed.

I am a woman
and I am not ashamed.

I AM
AN AMARIKAN....

She says there are three reasons for her spelling of "Amarikan." And that's a long story.
