Chestnuts

Did you know that Chestnuts are one of those things that are healthy? It's apparently good for the kidneys and the buddhist monks usually practice themm in their everyday meals.

Not that I am a Buddhist, but after much research, I do see their point.

Here, chestnuts used to be one of those once awhile things. It's a kind of nut that comes with a season. Like Durians.

But now, things change... there are chestnuts all year round. Not making them any less special. Why are they there all year round? There's importation from China or even neighboring countries.

The usual Chestnuts are roasted. Pretty much like the ones being "shared" by these two rascals.

Latest innovation of cooking this chestnuts are by steam! I don't seem to see it anywhere other than the ones in One Utama in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Now, that steamed version is a limited edition basis. If it's finito, it's finito for the day... and you gotta have the roasted ones - like the ones in this picture.

Sweet and nutty.. I love chestnuts whether it's steamed or roasted with charcoal.

These two rascals love 'em too...
