Fort Vancouver National Historic Site
Today was a beautiful day so we took a walk along the Columbia River and decided to walk across the land bridge which was built just a few years ago. This crosses over the freeway on a trail that is planted in native plants that grew in the area years ago. The trail ends at The Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. We hadn't been there in several years so decided it was a good day to visit. This was originally an Indian camping ground and later the center and principal supply depot of the British Hudson's Bay Company. It was the hub of an extensive fur trading network. Several building have been rebuilt as they would have been during this time. Beginning in 1849 it became a U.S. Army Post. I couldn't choose a picture so decided on this collage instead.
