Der Wasserturm

I took this as I was walking to dinner in Biebrich. This is a c1900 water tower although it looks a lot like a pretty badly designed early space rocket. I haven't walked past this for a good while and realised how much I liked it. I find there is a lot to admire in things like this - how did they keep the integrity of those brick designs all the way too the top. Fabulous.

It was a lovely walk - about an hour long with the last part through the garden at the Schloss. The animals in the garden were playing games again - some splendid formation flying from the parakeets, some adorable pronking from the squirrels and it all vanished as I reached for my camera. I did take a picture of about 20 kites (the birds) catching thermals on the far bank of the Rhein but when I look at it on the computer, it's more a picture of 20 black smudgy things about a hundred miles away.

Dinner was taken in the courtyard of the Schloss. Nice to sit out and eat as the sun went down. There are a few people I can imagine enjoying that with.
