Premiere fete de la noisette,Lavit

France loves festivals and in 2008 Lavit de Lomagne (5 kms from La G) inaugurated a nut festival(well they've been growing nuts here for 20+ years). The Confrererie de la Noisette (complete with hats and robes and a nut to hang round their necks) were inaugurated under the covered market (the wooden halle having being replaced by an ugly metal structure in the style of Eiffel in the late 19th century) and a man wandered round dressed as a giant squirrel. After the celebratory drink provided by the town council we had lunch from the stalls set up round the square. The barriers are there to mark out the course for the 'world nut launching championships' - not throwing but more like pea shooting!

We didn't stay for that, it was too hot a day. we went back to La G and spent the afternoon in the pool, probaly the last time we did that together.
