The Gymnast
My girl, my beautiful girl does Sports Acro Gymnastics. It's the kind of gymnastics that you would see on Britian's got Talent or at the circus. Daring balances, high skill level, all very exciting.
Today was our once a year visit to Irvine for the Scottish Gymnastic Association, Gymfest. Over 1,500 gymnasts from 50 display teams will perform over the next 48 hours.
Seriously, you simply cannot imagine how many kirby grips, scrunchies and different glittery leotards there can be in one room. Not to mention how much make up, hairspray (cough cough) and hair glitter I have passed by today. Girls as young as six in full glitter from head to toe. Tutus of every colour, neon, pastels, vibrant pinks, purples, blacks, blues, greens.
My girl simply despises this side of her beloved sport. So when her team opted for a more 'traditional' leotard, instead of their usual demure, sophisticated style, she was not impressed. I was not allowed to see it on until she walked out today. I snorted immediately, she saw me! This is the preferred way to wear leotards when you are over 10. Stripped to the waist, but not completely off. Hinging oot yer breechs sparkling in the sunshine, glitter, lace and all.
