Sheepish
I think it an unfortunate misconception that sheep are dumb because they 'follow the herd.' Sheep are part of a herd for a very good reason. It has been proven that as part of a group of familiar animals - sheep can remember at least fifty (fellow sheep) faces - they are more likely to try new feeding locations and try new foods. They are in fact all individuals - every sheep has their own personality (as do all animals by the way - even squid and lizards). Being part of the herd is actually a very smart move for sheep. It protects them, gives them confidence, leads them to new grounds and so increases their chances of survival.
So I think the definition for a sheepish grin should be changed from 'silly grin' to 'very cool grin!'
I got all this information from an awesome book called 'The Inner World of Farm Animals' by Amy Hatkoff :)
