Royal Wedding

Today, apparently, a couple were getting wed in London. We did not have any particular reason to celebrate with them (unlike a surprising number of our compatriots), but a sponge cake decorated in the style of amanita muscaria seemed appropriate; and then these African figures so wanted to stand in for the bride and groom that we could not deny them. The submissive posture of the bride seems to represent so well this determinedly un-modern marriage, and the colonial link is irresistible.
