Craiglockhart Steps
I enjoyed watching the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton so much I am watching the repeat. What a delightful couple.
After lunch (and watching the balcony scene) Mr Flum and I decided to explore footpaths we often drive past.
We started from Myreside road, opposite Craighouse Gardens, taking a walk under trees and then up to Easter Craiglockhart Hill, with excellent sight of the Craiglockhart Campus of Napier College and its egg.
From there we descended these steps through the woods West of the hill down to rest at Craiglockhart pond. (If we'd been with the family we'd have counted the steps but we didn't, although in the photo there are about 30 and we were nowhere near the bottom).
The pond area was alive with birds, including a moorhen, whose fluffy black chicks moved too quickly through the reeds for a decent photo.
We returned to our starting point by a footpath alongside the South Suburban Line, it was a long, cold but interesting walk and there are other routes through the woods still to be investigated.
