Rapeseed of course

What else would you find growing in a field in Scotland in April, only Rapeseed. The beautiful yellow colour is so familiar and heartening at this time of year. But....I know little of the plant and its properties so....

I Googled it and found that...

Rapeseed oil contains less saturated fat and has far more omega 3 than olive oil and it also contains vitamin E. So says THIS WEB SITE. I've never seen it on sale here though? But then I don't do the oil shopping.

I think it is also pretty hardy stuff and easy for the farmers to grow.

Anyway, it makes a decent late blip, when one has been too busy to do much else.
