Dipped and Ready
For the first time since moving to Seattle from California, I managed to find some big, delicious strawberries at the local market. I'm sure the weekly Farmers' Markets have had a good selection in the past, but I never seem to have the time to seek them out. Even better this week, the berries were on sale!
I made a fruit salad with half to take to a neighbor's BBQ and then dipped the rest in semisweet chocolate. The secret is to barely melt a cup of chocolate bits in a double boiler, add a tablespoon of butter to temper, and maintain the mixture over a low heat while dipping the fruit. Works great on fresh pineapple chunks too.
