Waterpainting
18months 7days
Katie slept reasonably ok last night, woke at 1 and 4 but not for very long, snuggled in to me and went back to sleep. Mummy however had a less great night as the poor little poppet was coughing most of the night, in her sleep. I am grateful though that she still slept, it would have been upsetting for her today if she hadn't.
We went to montessori this morning and she loved it because there were only 4 families there, one of which was the family we went with. The blip is Katie doing water painting. Literally. Painting on chalk boards, with water. Genius idea really. Practice and enjoy markmaking, but no waste of paper, no mess that matters, and chance to splishsplash too!
We came home and she had a bit of lunch before going to sleep in the car on our way to do a few bits. I found some incredible bargains (I even bought a couple of summer bits for Mummy, for £1 each!) and she woke up after not that long.
We went back to the lake - mainly because we'd planned to do that at the beginning of the week when the weather was so fine, in order that Katie could paddle, but when we got there it was windy and quite cold. However she still had a wonderful time talking to the ducks, rabbits, chickens and birdies. She fed them all and ran back and forth ensuring everyone got equal shares.
We stopped at the garden centre on the way home for a bit of a wander round, and a friend treated us to cake (always good!) We had a couple more jobs on the way back - I even managed to find myself a dress for our party tomorrow, after the mums decided we should all doll up. Its a party at the church, with crafts, facepainting, bring and share buffet for all the kids and families. I'm spending tonight making and baking food, cutting out and preparing the crafts and colouring sheets, all ready to go. I'm looking forward to having a happy, friendfilled day. Whatever your opinions on the wedding, and I know the nation seems divided, I think something that pullls communities together like this to enjoy themselves is fantastic.
