a multi-faceted symbol, perhaps...
Time to put up back blips again. We're Orthodox Christians and have just been going through the most intentional and beautiful time of our community's year. It began with Great Lent, intensified with Palm Sunday and the many opportunities for worship during Holy Week and then culminated on Saturday night in a three hour Paschal/Easter "midnight" celebration!
It's been both a challenge and a wonderful blessing but we're still tired and I won't try to explain much at the moment (though I'd be happy to respond to any questions a bit later.)
Suffice it to suggest that Orthodoxy is an ancient and beautiful faith having an organic, historical continuity with the church of the New Testament. It has much in common with Western Christianity (Roman Catholicism, Anglicanism and Protestantism) of course, as we build upon the same Scripture and have shared the first thousand years of our history more or less in common. Its style has remained more poetic and intuitive than philosophical and analytical, however, and its ruling paradigms tend to be more those of the hospital than of the courts of law.
I was able to make photos on each day, however, in spite of my main attention being elsewhere, and will be posting them soon, beginning with the one for Palm Sunday, the 17th. I hope that at least some of them will give you pleasure.
