Idaho
At the start of My Own Private Idaho River Phoenix is stuck by the side of the road and he gives a speech about how he knows he's been there before and that there's not another road that looks exactly like the one he's next to, how it's one of a kind. I look nowt like River but I know what he means. And after a day sorting out the girls, I found myself post-bedtime ambling along in the dusk to a familiar spot, to somewhere where I know I've been many times before.
I had a Wisconsin one day last week and today we've got the Idaho, but don't worry, I'm not going to go all Sufjan Stevens on you. It's just coincidence, well, until the next one anyway, perhaps. And I'm not going to link to any Sufjan stuff either although I do think he's rather wonderful. Instead I'm going to go for something that is haunting, drifting, shifting and what I'd call ambient electronica. I posted the opening track from this elsewhere today, so here I'll stick in a link to another of the five tracks. It's from the album 'Sleeping Through The Veil Of The Unconscious' by an artist called Rachel Evans AKA Motion Sickness Of Time Travel. Listen here to something pretty special.
