THE FALLEN MADONNA WITH....
....a lizard on top of her head. This is a little stone Victorian statuette about 1.07 m, 3 1/2 feet high, which I always took to be an unwed mother tossed out of the house by an outraged father. Once it arrived in Italy and was wrestled into place by two hefty chaps she turned, miraculously, into a Madonna.
I'm quite sure I blipped her over a year ago, probably with miniature daffodils around her base. Now is surrounded by rampant periwinkle, self seeded poppies, bramble, sticky willie and white campion. She will stay that way until the poppies fade away.
I was astonished to see a lizard on her head when I put the pictures on the computer. It must have been lurking in the greenery. It will turn grey or terracotta when it moves elsewhere. There are shots in better focus but the lizard isn't there. What could I do? I had to use it.
Sorry, gladders! I think this is the last.
A hectic day, Tuesdays always are, deadlines and stuff.
For the record: +18 C. Cloudy with an odd ray of sun. Humidity 45%.
