Falls of Feugh, near Banchory
The Falls of Feugh, despite their name, are a popular local attraction, where one can not only admire the natural waterworks but also, on occasion, watch Salmon leaping as they struggle up the Feugh to spawn in the headwaters.
The associated Tearoom is also reputed to be well worth a visit, though sadly when we called there around lunchtime today, it was shut: a sign on the door proclaimed that the Tearoom is closed every Monday and Tuesday (presumably to enable cleaning and recuperation after a busy weekend), and nothing as insignificant as a Bank Holiday was going to change any of that.
This is not the classic view of the Falls themselves, but rather the view immediately downstream from the falls (as seen from the modern footbridge), where the Feugh flows underneath the early 19th century turnpike bridge carrying what is now the South Deeside road.
