heart of stones

We had such a lovely day today with the kids. After Mass this morning we took the gang to the Amsterdamse Bos, a large park on the south side of Amsterdam. Ehm, hence the name...

Anyway, a lovely warm day - 25c - spent walking, canooing, eating, talking and just spending quality time together.

It was also a chance for me to get some more experience taking pictures with the iPhone. I'm a huge fan of street photography and an iPhone, not being particularly obvious, is the ideal tool. Together with Hipstamatic it can produce some wonderful shots. I ended up taking over 40 shots during the day including some really nice candids.

Sitting at a table having a coffee and ice cream I was looking through the shots wondering which I'd Blip today when my oldest daughter nudged me and showed me her hands. She'd arranged a handful of gravel into a lovely heart shape. It was something at once both beautiful and spontaneous that all I could do was lift the camera and press the shutter.
