Knik Sunset

I pulled off the Glen Highway to catch this sunset off the Knik River tonight. This is one of Chaos's favorite haunts. In the winter, this boat launching area is usually pretty deserted. This time, one of the Iditarod entrants, Jon Korta, was there to feed his team on their way to Anchorage. The fella in the linked shot is not Jon, but a helper. The race is in three days. The start is traditionally in Wasilla, but the last few years it's been 45 miles west of here as development and relatively poor snow cover in Wasilla has made that stretch of the trail hazardous. I think the Scintilla family will go to the start of the race this year. I believe I'm not working that day.
