Unfolding in the light....

Happy Easter everyone!!!! And wishing you a beautiful day and weekend!!! :-)))

Finally finished a run of shifts...some of the most difficult I've done in a long time...for many reasons. But they are over, and the sun is shining, and now...after a beautiful church service, and a lovely walk (and blip...of course) in the park...I feel a little more at peace with the world, and myself!! A bit profound...but hey...it is Easter!!

I took a lot of shots today, but when I downloaded them...this somehow had to be the one!! I love ferns...I find them profound actually. And this shot touched me...actually enhanced everything I love about them!! They're kinda brown, scraggy and ugly little things when all curled up!! Then the sun shines on them, and they slowly start to unfold, and you realise they are SO different to initial impressions!! They start to change, grow, unfold. They change from an ugly unappealling brown, to a rich and fresh green....that catches the light and just GLOWS. They slowly open and respond to the sunlight...and all that was curled up, scrunched up, opens to such a beautiful shaped fern....tall, broad, intricate detail; delicate, yet strong!! I so love them!!

I picked this today because for me this is an analogy of life. My life...but everyone else's too. We all respond to the 'sun'....and before you think I'm about to start a sermon, let me say that I don't plan to!! But I do admit, and am happy to do so, that for me the 'sun' would be God. But that it would be His love that does the unfolding! Sometimes direct, often through others!! Here in blipland, everyone is coming from different 'places'...and I love that. I have no idea what people believe, but I trust that everyone can 'get' this analogy!!! And give the 'sun' their own 'name', like love, or kindness, etc!!

As a nurse, I have the priveledge to watch this human unfolding every day I work. People come into hospital sometimes literally 'curled up'...and I hasten to add, not always very attractive!!! Well, no one can say a sore, sick, ill person is hugely appealling!!! But in time, I (we) get to intervene in various ways! Stop the pain, the sickness, etc. Then you find the other things!! The fears, the worries, the shame (at not being independant, in control, strong, and able to hide!!!). Sometimes folk aren't very appealling when these get revealed either!! They're angry, ashamed, etc!! But it's never ceases to amaze and fascinate me...that with a little 'sun'...ie, love kindness, patience, reassurance, gentleness, and a LARGE dose of humour, teasing, craziness, and laughter....boy....do people unfold into some truly great and memorable charachters!!!! Who are truly lovable!!!

So, this is my Easter 'reflection'!!! I don't mind where folk are coming from, everyone can 'get' this!!! Let's be the 'sun' to someone today...and watch them 'unfold'!!!!!
