Iconic Dumbarton
A departure from flowers , birds, insects and landscapes today. Instead a combination of two of our great loves, the Sons (aka Dumbarton Football Club ) and Dumbarton town set in the Leven valley surrounded by the Carman Hills and the Long Crags.
We spent a nailbiting afternoon as the Sons, in their usual style , kept us on the edge of our seats in the second half , having gone down 2-0 to Ayr United who scored two cracking goals in the first half. In the end we had to settle for 2-1 despite a spirited comeback after Carcary came on , an inspired substitution ! As ever so many chances missed and opportunities created but not capitalised on.
Still it is a joy to watch the beautiful game in such beautiful surroundings.
The town and the surrounding hills were at their best in the spring sunshine. Got a lot of shots of Overtoun House which was once a maternity home and where most Dumbartonians were born, but had to show this one with the old Burgh Hall where we used to go dancing in the 60s to the sounds Alex Harvey & His Big Soul Band, the old Distillery building and the hills where we spent a lot of our youth.
Might be worth a look at large for more detail .
