La Cucina Nueva Mexicana

I took a sick day today and we drove up to Ojo Caliente to relax in the hot springs. I spent some time in the steam room taking the hot moist air deep into my lungs. The pools were lovely.

On the way up we usually stop for breakfast in Espanola. Today there were hundreds of faithful Catholics on the road walking to Santuario de Chimayo for Good Friday.

We went to La Cucina instead of Angelina's. A lovely place but the food does not live up to the surroundings. The blue corn pinon pancakes sounded like a good idea, and I may have forgiven the fake maple syrup if there were not so tough. even the sopaipillas were rubbery. Next time we'll go back to our old standby.
