Clouds and car traps

I cycled out to see my friend today, it was the hottest day EVER. Maybe not officially. Anyway, the clouds this morning were beautiful, and I went slightly off my route to a) follow a heron and b) take a picture of this sign, with the clouds in the background...

(does anybody know what a car trap is? I couldn't see anything obvious...)
