Good Friday
The start of the Easter weekend, and time to follow through with what I've been telling Orla for weeks - no more nappies. We started out this morning by putting all the nappies left in a bag, and ceremoniously putting them in the bin (the empty recycling bin, so I can recover them later and give them to someone who still needs them, but Orla doesn't need to know that!). And it was pants from then on. She did really really well. There were accidents (we went through four pairs of pants), but she did six pees in the toilet and then this evening even did a poo, with no fuss! It is absolutely much more than I was expecting, and hopefully she continues to do as well tomorrow.
These are the fruits of our labour today, we spent a long time painting and doing crafts! I particularly like the picture on the bottom right - it's the Hubble telescope, complete with googly eyes ("because it needs a face, Mummy"), a shooting star, the moon and a galaxy. At the back is a vase with shells and stones she collected on the beach. We emptied them all out, and every time she does a pee she gets to put a shell back in the jar, and for a poo she puts a stone in. Once it's full again, she will get a prize. I asked her what she would like, and she said a red bicycle with a bell. Nothing like setting your sights high!
