Tree Pipit
Today I had a quick but very productive walk on patch, turning up my first Cuckoos and Wood Warblers of the year, as well as my first patch Whitethroats and, best of all, a reeling Grasshopper Warbler which briefly popped out of the reeds to show itself. This is a species that I've heard on a few occasions, but due to its skulking habits I've never got a good look at.
The Tree Pipits were particularly noticeable today, with this one posing nicely. Their cheery song and parachuting displays make them endearing birds, which their drab appearance in photos doesn't always convey,
