Easter time

The willow catkins are tightly related to the Easter at least in Finland. That is likely because they usually are the only living branches of trees at that time of the year at these hemispheres. They are said to represent the palm leaves in the Easter time traditions. So over here people take these to their homes to decorate for the easter. Even in the church on Wednesday I could spot some decorated willow branches.

The Finnish name to Good Friday is "Long Friday". When I was a kid, my parents were quite strict and we were not supposed to visit anybody or even see our friends that day. Just stay at home, be quiet and have a veeeery boring day, which the name quite well represents. That's definitely not one of the traditions I'm passing on. Now it's like any holiday: eating well and seeing family or friends.

So the Good Friday is almost over and I think it's not too early to wish you Happy Easter! And for those of you not celebrating Easter, just have a wonderful weekend!
