Things to do before you die...

Today I had to break off my short break to attend a funeral in Hexham.

A family friend from Port Glasgow, who was the wife of my dad's lifetime pal, had come to settle in Northumberland. I was there to represent my family and late father.

There's nothing like a funeral to get me into action. On the way back to York I decided to make a detour to Middlesborough and tick off my one my (modest) ambitions.

This is the Transporter Bridge, a meccano set of epic proportions. I travelled both ways at a cost of £1.30 each journey. I think I'll go back on Sunday when they escort pedestrians to the upper footbridge. Scary, but I foresee a good Blip
