BROCKHOLES

With an early blip Tuesday as we were going out in the evening, I'm now back-blipping for Wednesday. It seems as though I've been away for days!

After the excitement of Tuesday, and the delicious dinner in the evening at The Angel in Hetton, I was ready for a quiet night in, but G had other plans.

The Whimbrel had started the annual return to the roost at Brockholes Quarry, near Preston, on Sunday to be opened as Brockholes Nature Reserve, so after a very quick dinner we were off out again. I admit I was quite easily persuaded but only because I had my camera with me as well as my binoculars. I only wish I had taken the insect repellent too.

The Whimbrel, 32 of them, came in at dusk, so too late to photograph but I had a wander around and a couple of Canada Geese obligingly swam across the golden sunset. I have a magazine article about photographing into the light and should have taken that with me too. I must read it properly and see how to avoid the flare.

Just noticed my Blip of a year ago today - the same place!
