jeni and the beans

Summery sunshineyness

What a glorious day.

Early start though, Steve was up and out of the house by 5.45am driving into London for a tour of Abbey Road Studios. Not being the most organised of chaps he had to go into various bedrooms to collect clothing and bits and bobs, and then even into the attic to get the back seat for our car (which is normally removed on account of Ben's seat being there instead) so it wasn't particularly quiet. Ben woke up of course and as much as he tried he couldn't get back to sleep so he went and woke Grandad up at 7.30am and dragged him downstairs to sort breakfast out. I dozed until about 9, when I heard dad saying he was just going to move the car. I assumed it must be nearly 10am because that's when parking restrictions apply outside our house so I started waking up properly only to realise it wasn't as late as I hoped. Never mind! I was up.

Sick before breakfast so that was that out of the way, I felt much better then and have had a pretty good day. Been outside gardening with dad and Ben! Dad mowed the lawn, Ben helped me with the weeding. And he did some digging as well which we'll need to sweep up tomorrow.

The trouble with a lawn, as dad pointed out, is that it keeps growing. And so you cut it, which only serves to encourage it. And if it doesn't grow, then we slap a load of chemicals onto it to make it grow. And then we have to cut it.

My thoughts on lawns, are that when they're long and straggly they look untidy from a distance but really lush close up. And then you cut them and from a distance it looks all lovely and civilised, but on closer inspection you can see all the bare patches....

But the garden looks a whole lot more presentable now, and you don't get tickly ankles when hanging out the laundry so that's a plus.

I have learnt something today. I've learnt that I need to eat something pretty much every hour and a half to stave off the sickness. Toast or something like that. That's going to mess up my blood sugar readings horribly as I'm supposed to test before eating, and then two hours after eating. By which time I'll have eaten again already... Anyway I'm going to call the diabetes centre tomorrow and chat about it with them. We'll get it sorted.

Tomorrow's aim is to make it down to the Post Office. (Which will necessitate getting dressed, obviously.)

Oh yes - the guest photographer is Ben, who stole my iPhone and took 50 pictures on it (deliberately, that's what he said he was going to do) - mainly of his finger, a lot of his feet, a few of my hand at the keyboard and that fuzzy shaky one which I kinda like up there. I thought I'd include them :)
