Pollock House, Glasgow...
As previously mentioned, I thought today was as good a day as any to blip this beautiful house!! Lovely and sunny here today!! Took lots of shots, mostly straight on, but in the end this side on shot was my favourate, with the lines on the manicured lawn leading towards the house!! ( Please ignore the unsightly bollard!!)
"Pollok House is the ancestral home of the Maxwell family, located in Pollok Country Park, Glasgow, Scotland.
The house - built in 1752 and designed by William Adam - was gifted to the City of Glasgow in 1966 by Dame Anne Maxwell Macdonald, whose family had owned the estate for almost 700 years. It is now managed by the National Trust for Scotland and is open to the public.
Displayed within the Pollok House is a large, private collection of Spanish paintings, including works by El Greco, Francisco Goya and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. There are also paintings by William Blake, as well as glass, silverware, porcelain and antique furniture. The house also features servants' quarters downstairs (accessible free of charge), which include two shops and a restaurant.
The house also has an extensive garden, boasting a collection of over 1,000 species of rhododendrons." (Wikipedia)
Much better in LARGE !!!
Am going to take a few days out of blipping, much as I love it!! But am about to start a long run of shifts, am already quite tired, and this weekend is the Easter weekend!!! Have a lot of church services to fit in round my work, so will never be able to blip and comment too!! Hence the decision!!
Will be back after Easter though....so wishing you all a lovely Easter weekend!! Let's hope we ALL get good weather...where ever you are!!!
