forsaken
I waxed lyrical yesterday about architectural paragons and how the juxtaposition of the decrepit and the pristine in modern towns seems almost an anathema to me. Though I don't intend to revisit the subject it is worth noting - almost as an addendum to yesterday's blip - that only a few more properties down from the 'lovely new apartments' is this old and derelict house.
I couldn't resist the temptation to go back today and take some more shots of it as the ones I took yesterday had made the shortlist but were discarded in favour of the final blip. This time I took one of my cameras with me and got some even better shots.
As the sun was right behind the eaves of the house the colour got very washed out so I monochromed the images and adjusted the contrast and mid-tones to really bring out the crustiness of the old place. As I'm doing this at work I only have access to Microsoft Office Picture Manager for tweaking the images so my range of available adjustments is quite limited. I'm on holiday for two weeks after Easter so hopefully I'll have time to do some serious photoshopping on my computer at home.
