Red Chinese Lanterns

Tonight I decided to go for a blip walk - too much time inside today packing (nearly done... why do I have so much stuff!?!?). My idea was to go and take some pictures of the trees down at Southbank wrapped in fairy lights - but when I got that far I saw these lanterns.

They were strung all through the parklands, along all the walkways - the ones closest to the river weren't lit up yet, but these ones were! On investigation, I found out that they are for the Buddha Birth Day Festival later this month - apparently the largest festival for this event in the world! I'll be gone before the festival starts - but at least I can enjoy the lanterns now :)
