Goldfinches, The Passion of Christ

Was trying for some wildlife today. The eagles are nesting now but were too far away for my lens, the mink were too quick for a great shot, the douglas squirrel didn't cooperate and the ducks were boring, So it's only appropriate, I think, to post these goldfinch which I only observed coming to my feeder yesterday, Palm Sunday. Goldfinches, in art, signify the passion of Christ, as portrayed by Rafael, Tiepolo and others. Since goldfinches eat thistles and thorns,(mine seem to like the niger seed, put there because the raccoons do NOT like it.) Goldfinches are said to have eaten from Jesus' crown of thorns before the crucifixion, and are often portrayed on the christ child's hand in a madonna and child picture. (I know I should link one, but that's beyond my internet capabilities right now....)
There's a Junco on the bottom floor....
