Spring Time

The focus is not on the watch
(which is older than a two hundred year old man)
but on the chain
U.M.Y.P.L
I have no idea what this means.
Tried to work it out. Oh well;
answers on a postcards please
before the watch winds down
and all time stops, the spring spools
down to a silent coiled metal frown
waiting for the present tense
to intrude on the past through the crystal lens.
