Play time and plant dyes...

What could be better than a Sunday afternoon, warm sunshine and the opportunity to play?
Here I am, busy attempting to dye linen with plant dyes, in the old way - over an open fire and no modern mordants/dyes etc. I decided to try rhubarb, as we have an excess at the moment! One piece of linen was "saddened" with iron water at the end of the process, as a comparison.
I discovered plant dyes last year and just love the totally elemental feel of fire, water, plant materials and iron. The cauldron, of course, gives rise to the usual jokes; "Hubble, bubble" etc.
I'll blip the results tomorrow (don't get too excited!)
