My Aim is True

Kidnapped..

..was back in Murrayfield for a meeting, and the weather was so much better than when I was there last week and tried to blip this in the pouring rain. It felt like spring today - blue, blue sky and so much brighter than it's been for weeks.

But when I walked home tonight it started to snow (who are these mad people that get excited about snow). The streets were very dark and quiet and walking along listening to Bartok string quartet no 1 on MP3 was making everything look very spooky.

Had a good start of term meeting - students all enthusiasic about their goals over the next few weeks. Let's hope they stay motivated.

This statue celebrates the meeting of David Balfour and Alan Breck Stewart. There can't be many staues that celebrate fictional characters. Several years ago in India on a long, long bus jourmey I read Kidnapped in a couple of hours, and couldn't understand why it was hailed as such a classic; it was years later I realsied that I must have read the children's version. Maybe now I should re-read it!
