Turkish Eyes
We visited the Istanbul Modern today which was very impressive. Beautiful paintings and some very intriguing installation art. They were showing the photographic works of Yao Lu, which was quite unlike anything I had seen before.
I will be very sorry to leave this extraordinary city. I feel as if we have only scratched the surface. I hope to return very soon.
There was something so ancient about this young mans face. He had those eyes I keep going on about but also a look right out of a Byzantine painting. It was all I could do to tear my eyes away from him. He presented me with a little bouquet of paper napkin flowers when we left and made me promise to forward the portraits.
