I Think I Wanna Marry You...
It's a little over a year since the first one of "us" turned twenty one. At that time, I didn't really think it signified anything, and didn't look on it like the fabled catapulting into adult life. We were all still at university, some with years to go, for goodness sake.
But tonight it was another first. The first engagement party. R and S, school friends who have been together longer than anyone else I know, are betrothed.
Of course, I couldn't be happier for them, and I am sure the couple of years between now and the wedding will be filled with exciting plans and dress fittings, cake maker consultations and table plans. But this was the first social event that made me appreciate that, whether or not the transition into adulthood is quite complete, none of us are really children anymore.
When did that happen?
Backblipped from my week in the Highlands, starting here.
