Escape
After two days in Disney I had to escape for a wee bit. The plan was for a Wednesday trip to Paris to meet up with one of Roz's oldest friends. I wanted to do Notre Dame and the Louvre though so I decided to head in today since the kids didn't fance either of those.
The train in was reasonable and I got in for about half ten in the morning. After about 20 minutes spent navigating Chatelet Les Halles station I headed straight for Notre Dame. I've never done more then sit in the passenger seat whilst driving throiugh Paris en-route elsewhere, it was pretty simple to navigate though and I found Notre Dame easily enough. It was a pretty amazing feat of architecture I had a good look round including paying to get in to see the treasures. I would have paid to go up the towers as well (if only to shout 'Esmerelda, thee gave me water") but the queue was huge.
After that it was time for a break for my first contact with proper French food for this holiday. The croque monsieur hit the spot.
After that it was a bit of an aimless wander through the latin quarter where I stumbled accross a few cool shops, St Germain des Pres and St Sulpice (which I really wanted to see), then on to the Louvre.
Unfortunately no-one had informed me that the Louvre was closed on Tuesdays. Still, a bit more wandering and a couple of coffee breaks then I got the train back in time to catch up with everyone else in the Park at about half five and have a couple of coaster rides.
